Art Jams

Art Jams are 333Arts' signature group mural painting sessions, open to the public and free to participate. A lead artist designs a mural, outlines it on-site, and guides volunteers of all ages and skill levels through painting the piece together over a single day or weekend. Art Jams have been hosted at small businesses, schools, parks, and city-led community events across the East Bay and greater Bay Area. Anyone interested in contributing to public art is welcome.

Who Can Participate in an Art Jam?

Teens to adults and there is no experience necessary to be a volunteer. We take care of the supplies and materials needed. All you need to do is show up, paint, connect with others, and have a good time - all the while brightening the community with public artwork.

  • Yes!

We provide the guest artist with a stipend of $500-$1000 depending on the scope of the project.

We also reimburse the artist up to $300 for any out-of-pocket expenses for supplies.

  • A long, long time ago in a galaxy far away we used to have many spray paint jams, but these days it’s much more geared to using brush paints as it’s easier with volunteers (and saves the guest artist hours of making fixes on the mural). However, in certain circumstances, we will consider a spray paint jam if the location and conditions are right.

  • To lead as a guest artist, yes, some experience is required with painting larger scale (at least 5’ x 6’ canvases, but preferably a mural); however, you do not need to be an expert. Most importantly - you are professional, have a genuine interest in community collaboration, can be a positive leader, and are willing to take on the challenge of working with a group.
